The student who was sexually assaulted inside the Chittagong University (CHB) campus first reported the incident to Rezaul Haque, president of the branch Chhatra League. The student said that she was physically abused by five youths around 10 pm on July 17. The incident happened to him in the botanical garden area of ​​the campus.Narrating the incident of that day, the student told Prothom Alo that after the incident on July 17 at around 12 o’clock, she called Rezaul Haque, the president of the university branch of the Chhatra League, from another person’s cell phone. At that time he was staying in the roundabout area of ​​the campus. Then Rezaul Haque came around three o’clock in the night. Rezaul also heard the details of the whole incident. Accused Azim showed pictures of several people from the mobile phone. After seeing the picture, he identified Azim. When he finally came back.The day after the incident on the morning of July 18, Nasir Uddin (follower of Rezaul), Vice President of the University Chhatra League, came in front of the student’s hall. The student said, “Nasir Uddin came and said, “There have been incidents of rape in the campus before. No one was judged. What happened to you will not be judged.”

After that, the student went to Proctor Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan’s office to file a written complaint at around 12 noon. But there was no one in the office. The proctor came to the office around three o’clock. Rezaul Haque appeared in between.The student said that Rezaul Haque called her and took her out of the office. Then, stripped of the charge sheet, he was asked to mention only the incident of robbery, excluding the issue of recording the video footage. Before making the complaint, Rezaul Haque said various things, ‘If you write these things, your name will be bad. will not marry Leave it to me. I will see everything.’

According to the student, her complaint was not given that day. Then went to the house of an acquaintance in the campus itself. Rezaul Haque could not contact him since that day. Around 11 o’clock on July 19, the student made a written complaint to the proctor very secretly. On July 20, he went to Hathajari police station and filed a case. In this, students of various departments started a movement demanding justice for the incident.Five days after the incident in the face of student agitation, RAB announced the arrest of five people on July 23. Among them, Azim and Nurul Absar are university students. Later, RAB handed over the accused to Hathajari police station. The court sent them to jail. After the arrest, the university permanently expelled the two students.

At one stage of the incident, Rezaul could no longer communicate with the student. But he called his father. The student said that Rezaul called her father at least five times after the case. He would call between one and two in the morning. And Rezaul used to say over the phone, ‘I should not tell anyone that they have forbidden me to file a written complaint.’In view of the statement of the student, Rezaul Haque told Prothom Alo that he showed the photo of several people including Azim to the student. However, the student did not recognize anyone. Apart from this, he did not stop anyone from calling or complaining.

Meanwhile, the student said that she will return to class in a few days. He said that he has been staying at home for a month. But will be back to class soon. University Proctor Rabiul Hasan Bhuiyan said, they will do whatever they need to do to keep the student safe.
