The student’s eardrum was torn due to the beating of the BCL

Samshul Islam, a fourth year student of economics department, who was tortured by Chhatra League in Motihar Hall of Rajshahi University, has ruptured his left ear drum. He was unable to hear in his left ear since the incident. He was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital last Wednesday night with ear pain. Then he received the test report yesterday Thursday.

Subrata Ghosh, assistant professor of the ear, nose and throat department of the hospital, told Prothom Alo that according to the report, the eardrum of the patient was torn.The victim student, Samchul Islam, said that on Wednesday night, he felt a sudden pain in his ear. He was admitted to ward number 33 of the nose, ear and throat department of Rajshahi Medical Center in the night with unbearable pain. Later the doctor did some tests. He went out and tested them. After seeing the report, the doctor said that his left eardrum has ruptured. He still can’t hear. Apart from this, he is suffering from various physical complications after a few days of beating.

The medical clearance from the hospital reads, Ruptured TM (Left). This means that something in the left ear is detached.Earlier on August 19, Samchul Islam, a fourth-year student of the Department of Economics, complained that he was kept in the room from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. He filed a complaint against Bhaskar Saha, general secretary of Motihar Hall Branch Chhatra League and fourth year student of Institute of Education and Research, at the student advisor and proctor’s office on Friday night. Later that night, the authorities formed a three-member investigation committee. In one part of the complaint, he said that Chhatra League leader Bhaskar Saha threatened him and told him that if he tells anyone, the situation will be like Abrar’s.

After that, for two consecutive days, the economics department and the teachers-students-parents of the university protested the incident and demanded the punishment of the accused. The demand for safety of the victim was also raised. The investigation committee is currently investigating.After the incident, on Wednesday, Samchul Islam appealed to withdraw the charges against the accused BCL leader. There he said that Bhaskar Saha has repented and apologized to him for his actions. Along with that, Bhaskar agreed to pay him financial compensation. He forgave the sculptor considering the humanitarian aspect. He has no complaint against Bhaskar now. In this situation, he requested the administration to provide security for his future.

In this regard, Samchul Islam told Prothom Alo that the accused Chhatra League leader came to his room the morning after the incident. He was also the highest-ranking leader of the university of Chhatra League. They requested to withdraw the complaint. He withdrew the complaint thinking about future security.Accused Bhaskar Saha told Prothom Alo that since he has apologized, he has withdrawn all charges from that place. And they are in the same academic year, they are friends with him. He also gave compensation in this regard. He is always talking with Samchhul. Yesterday they talked and met.
