My name is Ramisa,an 18 years old from Chittagong.

During lockdown I have been able to invest more time on myself and exploring new ideas, one of which is self portraits! As, it was near impossible to get someone to pose and doing experimental photoshoots.

This led me to doing something different this year.On the occasion of  ‘Mental Health Month-22’ I did a photoseries named, ‘Anxiety through Self Portraits’. I tried to display distress, anxiety, panic, depression through self portraits. I tried to communicate with different aspects of mental health. Not many of us can sum up the feelings they feel in words to seek help or to lessen the burden at least, neither can I.

So I came up with this idea of displaying some emotions through my photography and I am glad I did this! I am glad that I could contribute to remind people about mental health awareness and how it is an important conversation that should be spoken out loud and taken care of.

Speaking of my personal experience while doing this photoseries, I realized the time I spent taking photos was like a therapy, not only this particular one though. I guess doing photography gives me a break from everything, has a positive impact and gives me time to focus and calm my mind. Spread positivity, take care of yourselves and be human.
