The 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to South Korean author Han Kang. The Nobel Committee at the Swedish Academy recognized her for her “intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life.”
About Han Kang
Born in 1970, Han Kang gained international fame with her novel ‘The Vegetarian’ in 2015. The book, written in three parts, explores the consequences of the protagonist Yeong-hye’s decision to stop eating meat, challenging societal norms.
