Navy and Air Force given magistracy power .

The interim government gave special magistracy power to the officers of air force and navy concerning law and order. Earlier, Army commissioned officers were given magistracy power for 60 days.

It was said in a gazette notification signed by Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration on Monday.

They got this power all over the country including the capital like the officers of the armed forces (army captain and above).

According to the notice, under Sections 12(1) and 17 of the Criminal Code, 1898, commissioned officers of the army have been empowered as special executive magistracy. They will have this power for the next 60 days after the notification is issued.

It further states that they can exercise their magisterial powers in the case of organized crime under Sections 64, 65, 83, 84, 95(2), 100, 105, 107, 109, 110, 126, 127, 128, 130, 133 and 142 under Code of Criminal Procedure 1898.

Earlier, on September 17, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification giving special magisterial powers to commissioned army officers.
