Gold prices hit record high

The price of gold has increased again in the local market within a week. The price of best-quality gold has been increased by Tk 3,149 per bhori to Tk 1,33,051.

This information was informed in a circular signed by Masudur Rahman, chairman of the standing committee on pricing and price monitoring of Bangladesh Jewelers’ Association (BAJUS) on Saturday.

It is said that the price of acid gold has increased in the local market. As a result, the new price of gold has been fixed considering the overall situation. Which will be effective from Sunday (September 22).

According to the new prices, per bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will cost Tk 1,33,051. Besides, the price of per bhori of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 1,26,998; per bhori of 18-carat gold will cost Tk 1,08,860 and traditional method gold at Tk 89,218.

In the notification, Bajus said, the selling price of gold must be added to the government-mandated 5 per cent VAT and Bajus-mandated minimum wage of 6 per cent. However, the wages may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.

Bajus last adjusted the price of gold in the local market on September 14. At that time, the price of per bhori of best quality gold (22 carat) was increased by Tk 3,581 to Tk 1,29,902.
