Hanging wire of Chittagong city goes underground

Within 6 months, hanging dish-internet cable of 3 wards of Chittagong City Corporation  is going underground. The three wards are Lalkhan Bazar, Jamalkhan and Bagmaniram.

In the presence of Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer of Chasik Sheikh Muhammad Tauhidul Islam and Managing Director of Summit Communications Limited Arif Al Islam signed an agreement in this regard.

At this time, the mayor said that our initiative is aimed at building a smart Chittagong to implement the Smart Bangladesh vision announced by the Prime Minister. Today a new era has started in Chittagong. Dish, internet connection cable management under the supervision of city corporation will reduce accidents on electric pillars, increase the beauty of the city. Traders will also benefit as wire cutting and theft will be prevented.

“The importance of Chittagong as a commercial city at the national and international level is fading due to the tangle of wires. For the sake of the beauty and safety of the city, we want to remove the cable clutter by establishing order. In the next 6 months we will initially take 3 wards hanging dish-internet underground. After that, we will use the experience of three wards to take the dish-internet of the whole city underground.”

Arif Al Islam, Managing Director of Summit Communications Limited, said at the signing ceremony, “We will build waterproof fiber optic infrastructure by using ducting and drainage and sewage system. “Fiber to the home” technology will be used from the main road to alleys and from there every house will be connected.

“Because of our technical capabilities, any ISP can accept any connection speed they want. There will be no interruption in service delivery. Besides, we will also keep in mind the fact that dish businesses will launch digital dish cable within the next 5 years. Utilizing the experience of 3 wards, we will de-clutter the entire city.”

Panel Mayor Gias Uddin, Afroza Kalam, Councilor Abul Hasnat attended the contract signing ceremony. Belal, Shaibal Das Sumon, Chief Cleaning Officer Latiful Haque Kazmi, Mayor’s Private Secretary Abul Hashem, Managing Director of Summit Communications Limited Arif Al Islam and other officials of Chasik and Summit Communications Limited.
