The government has decided to give ‘Ekushey Padak-2024’ to 21 eminent citizens of Chittagong, including two 5 accomplished children of Chittagong, in recognition of their important contributions in various fields including language movement, arts, language and literature.
The list of medal recipients was published in a circular signed by Irene Farzana, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Culture on Tuesday (February 23).
This time, two people received the posthumous Ekushey Padak in the language movement category. They are – Mau. Ashrafuddin Ahmad and brave freedom fighter Hatem Ali Mia (posthumous).
11 people received this medal in various categories of art. Jalal Uddin Khan (posthumous), Veer Muktijoddha Kalyani Ghosh, Vidit Lal Das (posthumous), Andrew Kishore (posthumous) and Shubhra Dev got the music. Dolly Zahoor and MA Alamgir in the acting, Khan Md. in the dress. Mustafa Waleed (Shimul Mustafa) and Rupa Chakraborty, Shibli Mohammad in dance and Shahjahan Ahmed Bikas in painting.
Kawsar Chowdhury in the production and archiving of documentary films related to the liberation war, Md. in social service. Ziaul Haque and Alhaj Rafiq Ahmed.
4 people have received Ekushey Padak in language and literature. They are – Muhammad Samad, Lutfar Rahman Riton, Minar Mansoor and Rudra Muhammad Shahidullah (posthumous). In addition, Professor Dr. Jinbodhi Bhikkhu is in this list.
Among them are Chittagong’s veteran freedom fighter Kalyani Ghosh (vocalist), veteran freedom fighter Kawsar Chowdhury (producer), famous writer Minar Mansoor, Professor Dr. Jinbodhi Monk and Lion Alhaj Rafiq Ahmed (Mamata).
