As the winter progresses, the sale of winter clothes increases. In the space of two weeks, from the elite market to the sidewalk shops, winter clothes have been piling up. At the beginning of the winter season, the traders who suffered from a lack of buyers are now doing a brisk business. In this, their sales have doubled.
However, buyers complain that with the increase in the severity of winter, the sellers have also increased the price of clothes.
On Thursday (January 18), various markets and sidewalk shops were seen on the ground, the elite class is flocking to buy winter clothes in Chittagong city New Market, Zahoor Hawkers Market, Riazuddin Bazar, Teribazar, Moti Tower, Mimi Super Market, Afmi Plaza, Chittagong Shopping Complex, Sanmar Osan City, Finlay Square, at Akhtaruzzaman Centre.
Also, lower and lower middle class people are thronging to buy winter clothes and blankets from hawkers at different corners of the city.
It is known that buyers are flocking to buy winter clothes from mobile hawkers on the city’s sidewalks. A couple of weeks ago, the daily sales of these hawkers were Tk 1500 to Tk 2000. Their sales doubled as the winter intensified. Many are selling more than 5 thousand rupees daily. Besides, the sales of various comfort blanket vendors on the footpath have also increased in the last two weeks. Earlier they used to sell 8 to 10 thousand taka daily, but after the severity of winter, that sale stood at 20 to 22 thousand taka daily.
