On January 13, the streets of the city were covered in fog at the end of the rainy season. When the clock strikes 11 o’clock, the sun breaks through the fog, but the sun continues to hide throughout the day. A cold wind is blowing around him. And that’s where the intensity of winter is felt. It seems like the winter has come. But the temperature in Chittagong did not drop much like severe winter.

The Meteorological Office says that although the temperature in Chittagong is not low, the cold is felt more due to the intensity of the wind. The temperature may rise by 1 to 2 degrees during this month as well. However, although there is a possibility of rain in some parts of the country, there is no sign of it in Chittagong, said the Meteorological Office.

Meanwhile, the normal maximum temperature in January in Chittagong is 26 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is 13.9 degrees Celsius. But the minimum temperature during the week was 14 to 16 degrees Celsius. Sometimes the temperature rises up to 1 degree above normal. However, the temperature starts to drop at this time of the year.

Yesterday Friday (January 12) the maximum temperature of Chittagong was 21.2 degrees Celsius. Which is 4.8 degrees Celsius lower than normal. And the minimum temperature was 13.5 degrees Celsius. Which is 0.4 degrees Celsius less than normal. Today, Saturday (January 13), the highest temperature in Chittagong is 24 degrees Celsius. Which is 2 degrees less than normal. And the minimum temperature is 14.5 degrees Celsius. Which is 0.6 degrees Celsius above normal. Also, there is no possibility of cold current in Chittagong at the moment.

According to Meteorological Office sources, the temperature was 20 to 26 degrees Celsius last week as well. Some days the temperature was higher than normal. Due to the low humidity of the air, the severity of winter was not that much. Since then the temperature started to drop. Gradually the temperature drops to 14 to 15 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the normal maximum temperature of the day is expected to be 4 to 5 degrees lower on an average.

On the other hand, the weather forecast for the next 24 hours says that the weather may remain dry with partly cloudy sky. Moderate to dense fog may fall from midnight to morning. May continue till noon somewhere. Air traffic, inland waterway transport and road communication may be temporarily disrupted due to fog. During this time the day temperature may increase slightly and the night temperature may remain almost unchanged.

Biswajit Chowdhury, the forecasting officer of Chittagong Meteorological Office, said, “The temperature has not decreased in Chittagong like a severe winter.” Still above 14 degrees. As the wind blows from the east of the Himalayas, it feels colder. Its main reason is high air and air humidity. Chittagong does not really have winter. However, even if the sky is cloudy, the temperature is not likely to drop much. Barajor can rise by one or two degrees.

He also said, ‘Chittagong is now experiencing moderate fog. Such a situation will prevail for the next few days. Moreover, due to the variation in fog, the wind is also increasing. That’s why the winter is being felt.’ He said to the question whether there is a possibility of a cold current in Chittagong, ‘There is no possibility of a cold current in Chittagong. Because it is a coastal area, the temperature usually does not fall below 10 degrees. Even if it comes down again, it should last for three consecutive days. If the situation is the same for three consecutive days then it can be called a cold wave in Chittagong. And in Chittagong, that possibility is less. However, rain is likely in other parts of the country. Due to its effect, the temperature may drop there and winter may occur.
