Polling station set on fire in Ctg

Some unidentified miscreants have set fire to Nischinta Para Government Primary School, a school cum polling centre, under Patenga EPZ area in the city around 4.30 am today.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bandar Thana Police Mohammad Manjur Quader Majumdar
told BSS that the miscreants set on fire to the headmaster’s room of the
school in Ward no. 38 of Dhooppul area of Chattogram-11 (Bandar-Patenga)
constituency around 4:30 am today.

Being informed, a firefighter team rushed to the spot and brought the fire
under control within half an hour. We are trying to find out about the source
of the fire and action will be taken accordingly, he added.

“Several new books and a printer kept in the office room of the school were
burnt in the fire,” the OC said.

However, no voting equipment went to the center till last night.

Locals said there are a total of 3,292 voters in this center. Among them,
1,625 are men and 1,667 women.
