Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP is destroying public properties, carrying out arson attacks on public transports and killing people in the name of boycotting poll.
“On the other hand, the Awami League government is carrying out development activities across the country and constructing roads, bridges, culverts and rail lines. And the government is also distributing books to the students free of cost,” he said.
The ruling party leader said this while addressing streets rallies at different areas including Goalpura Bazar, Kodala Bazar, Tea Garden of Kodala Union of Ranguniya upazila of the district.
Later, he campaigned at Sarafbhata in Ranguniya upazila and Sripur-Kharandiwp union of Boalkhali upazila.
Dr Hasan, who is a candidate of Awami League in Chattogram-7 constituency, sought vote for ‘Boat’, the electoral symbol of Awami League.
He said the politics of BNP-Jamaat is nothing but terrorism, he said, urging all to resist them (BNP-Jamaat) with an iron hand to protect the country.
The minister said Jamaat gives slogans that ‘Allah’r Ain Chai… Soth loker Shashon Chai (‘Want the law of Allah … want rule of honest people). But they didn’t make any statement against the atrocity of Israeli forces against Palestinian people, he added.
He said BNP also didn’t make any statement against Israel. In fact, BNP and Jamaat are not only enemies of Islam, but also enemies of humanity, he said.
Dr Hasan said, “I’ve always tried to stay beside the people of my area. I’ve also visited Chattogram and my constituency in Ranguniya every week along with performing my responsibilities as a minister and party as well”.
Seeking cooperation of all to continue the progress under the AL government, the information minister said, “I’ve tried to be a lawmaker irrespective of party and opinion. My door has been opened for all over the last 15 years”.
He said the country has been making gradual advancement under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina whether anyone admits it or not.
Hasan Mahmud said his constituency Ranguniya has witnessed massive development works after he was elected as a parliament member from the area. “You have elected me as a Member of Parliament. I have always tried to stand beside you and want to do my best for the welfare of all. Even, I helped to get jobs the youths who campaigned against me,” he said.
He said the work of Taka 500 crores has been completed to prevent the erosion of rivers in Rangunia, including the Karnaphuli river while the work of Taka 100 crores will be done, said Hasan Mahmud.
