Tomorrow is National Income Tax Day.

The ‘National Income Tax Day-2023’ will be observed tomorrow across the country aiming to create awareness among the people for payment of income tax regularly for the development of the country.

The theme of this year’s tax day is “Will pay tax, will build the country, Bangladesh will be smart”.

On the eve of the day, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today issued separate messages wishing success of the day.

In their messages, the President and the Prime Minister greeted all officials and employees of the NBR and tax-paying individuals marking the income tax day.

In his message, Mohammed Shahabuddin lauded the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for the enactment of the Income Tax Act, 2023 and introducing the first-ever Tax Return Preparer System, Income Tax Returns online filing system, Electronic-Tax Deducted at Source (e-TDS), Document Verification System (DVS) for verifying the correctness of invoices and audited accounts.

He thought that as a result of all these positive programs and reform activities, a revolutionary change will be initiated in income tax management.

He hoped that NBR will contribute more effectively to encourage the common people to pay taxes and make tax payment easier.

In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said NBR is working to develop a revenue-friendly culture in the country, various innovative activities of the organization have already been expanded from the national level to the rural areas.

The Prime Minister said NBR has taken various initiatives, including online system considering the convenience of taxpayers in filing their returns.

For the first time, NBR introduced online one-page return filing system to file tax-free returns, she added.

The Prime Minister laid emphasis on working together to build ‘Smart Bangladesh’ as per Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s lifelong dream of ‘Golden Bangladesh’.
