A readymade garment worker, who was injured in a clash between RMG workers and police in Jarun area of Konabari in Gazipur on November 8, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early Sunday while undergoing treatment there.
The deceased, Jalal Uddin, 40, son of Chand Mia of Bamhati under Kendua in Netrokona, was a sewing operator at a garment factory of Islam Group in Jarun area.
DMCH police outpost in-charge, inspector Bachchu Mia said that injured RMG worker Jalal died at the intensive care unit of the hospital at about 12:30am on Sunday.
He said that the body was in the Dhaka Medical College morgue and that they informed the matter to the concerned police station.
On November 8, workers of three factories of Islam Group in Jarun area began demonstration demanding their wage hike and when police tried to disperse them from the roads, a clash occurred between the police and the workers.
Police fired tear gas and rubber bullets to control the situation while at least one dozen workers were injured.
Two of the injured workers — Anjuara Khatun, 24, and Jalal Uddin, 40, were rushed to to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition and Anjuara was declared dead at the hospital later on the day.
Jalal was undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital and died at about 12:30am on Sunday.
