The Fire Service and Civil Defence on Thursday said that they received information of 13 incidents of arson across Bangladesh in 15 hours until 9:00am on Thursday.
The incidents of arson were reported during the countrywide third spell of blockade enforced by the main opposition political party BNP and its allies in the ongoing one-point movement to press home their demand for the next general election under a neutral government.
Of the 13 incidents, five were committed in Dhaka city, three in Gazipur and one each in Khagrachhari, Bogura, Barishal’s Gournadi, Barguna and Noakhali, according to reports received from the media cell of the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
It said that seven buses, four covered vans and two trucks were gutted in the arson attacks.
The incidents of torching buses were committed by ‘unruly persons’, the media cell said.
