Main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will leave Bangladesh for Singapore on Thursday for receiving treatment there.
His wife Rahat Ara Begum will also accompany him as she will also receive treatment there, Fakhrul told New Age.
We both are sick. My wife had a doctor’s appointment. And I have some new physical problems,’ he said, requesting people of the country and BNP leaders and activists to pray for them.
A few years ago, Mirza Fakhrul was diagnosed with a block in the internal carotid artery in his neck. Apart from this, the blood circulation in his neck artery also got complicated.
He was then treated at the National University Hospital in Singapore.
He had to go to that hospital in Singapore for medical follow-up.
His wife had already taken appointment from her doctor in Singapore’s Raffles Hospital.
Fakhrul was arrested by the police on December 8, 2022 from his rented home in capital’s Uttara.
After a month, he was released from Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
He was then admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital on January 15 for health check-up on the doctor’s advice.
Then in February, the couple went to Singapore for treatment.
