Chittagong University’s two students have got the UK’s ‘Diana Award’

Two students of Chittagong University (CU) have received the UK’s prestigious ‘Diana Award’ in recognition of their special contribution to social work among them, Abdullah Al Hasan is a postgraduate student of Public Administration Department and Nishat Sultana is a former student of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department

Abdullah Al Hasan received this prestigious award for his role in ensuring social development and equality through Pothchola Foundation. On the other hand, Nishat received this award for playing a role in the education of underprivileged children through the organization ‘Ek Takar Shikkha’. Nishat is the co-founder and general secretary of the organization

Abdullah Al Hasan said, we are working to ensure equality in the society. Earlier I fought against discrimination by working in various organizations. We started Pathchala Foundation in 2019 to strengthen this fight.

Abdullah Al Hasan also said, we started to stand by the minority community of the society. In particular, we have worked on various issues including skill enhancement of youth, empowerment of women, creation of entrepreneurship, helping to become self-reliant, health awareness. Pathchala Foundation has already received Sheikh Hasina Youth Volunteering Award in 2020, Top 31 of Joy Bangla Youth Award in 2021, and United Nations IVD Award in 2022.

 

 

Nishat said, that The journey of ‘One Takar Shikkha’ started from Chittagong University in 2017. The organization is working to smooth the path of underprivileged children to get education. The education Cost of the backward students is ensured through this organization from the donation of 1 taka per day from the members. In 2020, our organization also has gained the ‘Joy Bangla Youth Award’ that is organized by Young Bangla.

 

In the memory of Britain’s Savage Princess Diana the award has been giving since 1999

in recognition of the work of organizers between the ages of 9 to 25 in around of the world. The award recognizes individuals who are making a positive impact in their communities through their work.
