President wants more connectivity to capitalize on Bangladesh-Bhutan potential

President Mohammed Shahabuddin today called for increasing connectivity between Bangladesh and Bhutan to utilize the two countries’ existing potentials as Bhutanese ambassador in Dhaka Rinchen Kuentsyl paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here.

President Shahabuddin said Bangladesh and Bhutan have an excellent bilateral ties and Bangladesh always attaches importance to the development of this relationship.

President’s press secretary Md Joynal Abedin briefed journalists after the meeting.

The bilateral relations between the two countries in different sectors, including the fields of trade and investment, would expand further in the days to come, the Head of State hoped.

During the meeting, the Bhutanese ambassador said a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on hydropower between Bangladesh and Bhutan will be signed soon.

“As a result, the cooperation between the two countries will expand further,” the Bangabhaban spokesman quoted the Bhutanese envoy as saying in the meeting.

Secretaries concerned of the President’s office were present.
