Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister, has called for an investigation into the recent market fires to determine whether they were acts of conspiracy or sabotage. During an Awami League nomination board meeting at Ganobhaban, she also instructed for an increase in surveillance in key markets throughout the country. The Prime Minister’s press office shared this information.
Sheikh Hasina also emphasized an investigation into whether the BNP-Jamaat arson-terrorism group was involved in the fires. She underscored the need to probe whether they were taking a different approach by starting fires, and urged everyone to be more vigilant and take their own precautions. The government will continue to make efforts to prevent such incidents.
The Prime Minister cautioned that the fire service should not be hindered in their efforts to extinguish fires, and warned that strict action would be taken against anyone who obstructs their work.
Meanwhile, traders are currently in the midst of the Eid season, which is their busiest time of the year. Unfortunately, several markets have suffered significant losses due to recent fires, which is a cause for concern.
