According to reports, the Sylhet district branch of BNP held an iftar party at a community center in Nagar on Saturday, which was attended by Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, advisor to the BNP Chairperson. Muktadir flew from Dhaka to Sylhet to attend the event, but upon arriving at the airport, he was allegedly arrested by the police. The arrest was made in connection with a case filed under the Special Powers Act, 2018. However, Muktadir was released at around 6 pm after providing bail papers.
He said, “Khandkar Muktadir was apprehended in front of the Sylhet Osmani International Airport, where a warrant for his arrest had been issued in connection to a case filed under the Special Powers Act back in 2018 at Kotwali Model Police Station in Sylhet. After being detained in relation to the case, Muktadir was subsequently released following the submission of a bail recall on his behalf.”
