During a function organized at FDC to celebrate National Film Day, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Hasan Mahmud, announced that the Ministry will soon issue a notification to prohibit the broadcasting of news on Internet Protocol Television (IP TV) and YouTube channels.
Dr. Hasan Mahmud emphasized that it is illegal to publish news on these platforms according to the Media Policy passed by the Cabinet. He further stated that the Ministry will take necessary actions within days to stop the publication of news on these platforms.
In addition to this, Mahmud expressed his optimism for the Bangladesh film industry, saying that the golden days of the industry are slowly coming back, with new cinema halls opening up gradually.
Before the function, the Information Minister, along with representatives of the artists’ society, paid tribute to the Father of the Nation’s portrait. A rally was also held inside the FDC.
