On Sunday at around 1 pm, the Kuki-Chin National Army (KNA) ambushed an army patrol in the remote hilly region of Ruangchhari in Bandarban, resulting in the death of Army Warrant Officer Nazim Uddin, while two other army personnel were injured and are currently receiving treatment. The ISPR issued a press release on Monday providing these details.
The ISPR stated that the KNA attacked the security personnel who were providing free health care to mothers and children in the area, under the supervision of the Bangladesh Army, on the occasion of National Children’s Day-2023 and the Independence Day. The KNA, an armed terrorist group, ambushed the team and opened fire. Army Master Warrant Officer Nazim Uddin was shot and killed on the spot during the incident.
The ISPR reported that the Kuki-Chin National Army, a separatist group that holds extremist beliefs, has provided training to a militant group called Jamaatul Ansar fil Hindal Sharqiya in the mountainous regions of Bandarban in exchange for money.
Additionally, the army is overseeing the construction of Thanchi Road in Bandarban as part of an effort to promote the development of underprivileged communities in the hilly areas.
