Boat sinks on Kaptai Lake, 59 people were saved while two tourists died.

A tourist-carrying engine boat sank in Kaptai lake in Rangamati, resulting in the death of two individuals. However, 59 people were successfully rescued and are reported to be in good health. One person’s condition has been deemed critical by doctors.

These tourists hailing from Panchbibi Upazila in Joypurhat district ventured out for a boating excursion on Kaptai Lake at the DC Bungalow locale on Monday evening.

During their outing, the boat they were aboard collided with a submerged tree trunk in the lake and subsequently sank. Fortunately, they were promptly rescued with the aid of multiple boats, as well as the fire service and police.

Upon being transported to the hospital, the two individuals were pronounced dead by the attending physicians. The tour guide, Paltu Burman, positively identified the deceased individuals as Hena Rani Burman and Pushpa Rani Burman.

According to Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, the Deputy Commissioner of Rangamati, a tourist boat sank in the DC Bungalow area in the evening. He reported that 59 people, including children, were rescued, but unfortunately, two people lost their lives in the accident.
