5 militants are detained after firing in Bandarban

RAB engaged in a firefight with terrorists in various locations in Ruma Upazila, Bandarban, and arrested five militants who were undergoing training. RAB Director General M Khurshid Hossain disclosed this information to local journalists in Thanchi on Tuesday, but the identity of the arrested militants was not disclosed and they were not presented to the journalists.At the initial briefing, it was announced that further details would be provided at RAB Liaju Camp in Bandarban on Wednesday morning. In response to a query, M Khurshid Hossain stated that eight to nine RAB members sustained injuries in the shooting incident, but their condition was not deemed serious.

According to RAB, they carried out operations to apprehend militants undergoing training in remote areas of Bandarban. During the operation, members of the newly established militant group ‘Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya’ and the local separatist group ‘Kukichin National Front’ opened fire on the RAB from a high hill, leading the RAB to fire back in self-defense.
RAB Director General M Khurshid Hossain said that the operation is still continuing. This operation will continue until all the terrorists are arrested.

He said that 38 members of ‘Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya’ were arrested in two phases. Five more people were arrested on Tuesday. Apart from this, 14 military members of ‘KNF’ have been arrested at various times in the ongoing operation.

After the shooting incident in the Remakri-Prangsha area, RAB Director General M Khurshid Hossain visited the scene by helicopter and spoke to reporters at the Tamatungi tourist point in Thanchi upazila.RAB Director General said that Tuesday’s operation was the most successful operation. He claimed that almost 80 percent of the anti-terrorist campaign has been achieved through this.
