Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek said, “Selling or using antibiotics without a doctor’s advice will be considered a crime. If anyone conducts such activities, they have to face punishment.”

He said this in response to questions from journalists after inaugurating various developmental activities including the pediatric unit and dialysis center of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital on Wednesday afternoon.

Director General of Health Directorate Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Director of Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Brigadier General Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan, and others were present at this time.

“The government is working seriously on the drug law. It has already been passed by the cabinet. I hope that the law will be passed in the next session if it’s not in the current one,” the minister added.

In his speech, the minister highlighted various steps taken by the government to improve health care in Sylhet. Later he visited various wards of the hospital and spoke to the patients and their relatives.
