Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of BNP, inaugurated the march in Dhaka City South and proclaimed it a triumph of democracy, human rights and a victory march to free BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and bring back Tarique Rahman to the country.He spoke during the inauguration of the program hosted by Dhaka Metropolitan South at Jatrabari Ideal School on Monday afternoon.
Fakhrul stated that Awami League is losing ground and becoming isolated from the mass people. He criticized the price hike during this government era. He also mentioned the nationwide gas shortage, including in Old Dhaka.
BNP Secretary General reported that the Prime Minister made a statement in Rajshahi yesterday claiming that Awami League is not retreating. However, the Secretary-General pointed out that everyone knows who fled during one-eleven. He emphasized that Zia considers this country her own and has no intention of leaving, stating that she was born here and will die here.
He spoke about the ongoing suffering of the people in the country for the last 14 to 15 years. He mentioned Mr. Obaidul Quader’s statement and referenced a poem asking where one could run to escape. He stated that there is still time to act and urged the government to accept their 10-point demand and resign.
Members of the BNP Standing Committee, including Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Barkat Ullah Bulu, as well as advisors to the Chairperson, leaders, and other members, such as Abdus Salam Azad, Azizul Bari, Helal, Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, Nabi Ullah Neeb, and Ishraq Hossain, attended a pre-walk rally presided over by Metropolitan South BNP convener Abdus Salam and secretary Rafiqul Alam Majnoor.
