A BGB member on duty committed suicide at Satkhira

A BGB member committed suicide by firing from his own weapon while on duty at Shyamnagar, Satkhira. The incident happened on Monday (January 2) at around 4:30 pm while the 17th Battalion was on duty at Nildumur BGB camp.

Deceased Lance Naik  Md. Parvez Alam (30) is BGB member (89392) and resident of Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali. His colleagues took him to Shyamnagar Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Shyamnagar police officer-in-charge Nurul Islam Badal confirmed the death of a BGB member and said that the body of the Parvez was handed over to the BGB officials after the post-mortem at the Satkhira Sadar Hospital morgue at around 2.30 pm. A case of wrongful death has been registered at Shyamnagar police station regarding this incident.

Dr. Ahmed Ali and Dr. Tamim Hossain, doctors of Satkhira Sadar Hospital, said that Parvez Alam died due to a bullet injury on the left side of his chest.

17, Nildumur BGB Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Kamrul Hasan could not be contacted in this regard.
