Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that action will be taken if anyone is negligent in the case of snatching two militants from the court premises.
The Home Minister said this to reporters in his own office of the Secretariat on Sunday (November 20). He also said that a reward of Tk 20 lakh has been announced to hand over the two militants who escaped from the court premises.
Militants abducted two militants, Abu Chiddiq Sohail and Moinul Hasan Shamim, who were sentenced to death in the murder case of publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan and writer and blogger Abhijit Roy by spraying them in the eyes of the police.
The incident took place on Sunday (November 20) around noon in the premises of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka.
When asked about this incident, the Home Minister said that two militants have been ordered to be hanged through trial. These two are members of Ansarullah Bangla team. They were brought, they were kept in court, after producing them before the magistrate, they were being taken back to a certain room, when we learned that the policemen who were in charge of them threw chemical on them and threw a chemical called pepper spray on them and some of them ran away with their supporters. .
He said, we have issued red alert as soon as the incident happened. Our police are desperately looking for them, we believe we will catch them soon. We have also told the border areas that they should not escape from the country.
“This incident is sad. We think that if someone is negligent, if someone is negligent, if someone has done this intentionally, we will take appropriate action against him.’
Asaduzzaman Khan said, we will definitely make an inquiry committee about it. I will take action accordingly. Secretary, Inspector General of Prisons, DMP Commissioner are all having meetings about it. We will give further instructions very soon.
He said, only after the investigation, we can say what spay was given, who gave it. It will take some time. We will inform you after investigation.
When asked whether this incident is alarming or not, the minister said, we take all things seriously. We have brought many things under control because we look cynically. There was rise of militancy, we brought the rise of militancy under control. According to the High Court’s instructions, even if the convicts have been sentenced to death, they have to remove the shackles and handcuffs in the court. Accordingly they went there. I can’t say before the investigation that the incident happened through any loophole.
“We are looking at whether anyone was negligent or not, whether anyone was involved or not. There is no question of discounting anyone.’ added the minister.
The Home Minister also said that such an incident happened in a place like the court, the question about the security of the court was not raised before. It has always been like this.
