Late powerful actor ATM Shamsuzzaman’s birthday is on Saturday (September 10). If he had lived, he would have turned 82 today. This actor was born on this day in 1941 at Nanabari in Daulatpur, Noakhali.
He started his career as an assistant director in Udayan Chowdhury’s movie ‘Bishkanya’ in 1961. He first worked as a screenwriter in the movie ‘Jalchhabi’. ATM Shamsuzzaman has written more than a hundred screenplays and stories. Notable among these are ‘Thirst for Life’, ‘Surrounded by Dreams’, ‘That Burns in Fire’, ‘Clay House’, ‘Clay Oath’, ‘Scream’, ‘Lal Kajal’ etc.
In 1965 ATM Shamsuzzaman made his film debut as an actor. He made his debut as a villain in Amjad Hossain’s ‘Nayanmani’ in 1976. Apart from movies, he has acted in numerous dramas and serials.
He started working in films as a comedy performer. He was seen in comic roles in the films ‘Jalchhabi’, ‘Jadur Banshi’, ‘Ramer Sumati’, ‘Madam Phuli’, ‘Churiwala’, ‘Mann Bose Na Praka Tabile’. He has also been seen in villainous roles in numerous films. These include movies like ‘Nayanmani’, ‘Lathiyal’, ‘Ashichit’, ‘Golapi Nak Trenne’, ‘Padma Meghna Jamuna’, ‘Swapner Nayak’ etc. Besides, he acted in supporting roles in several films like ‘Anant Prem’, ‘Dolna’, ‘Achena’, ‘Molla Bari Bauu’, ‘Hajar Bara Dara’, ‘Chorabali’.
‘Ebadat’ is the only movie directed by this elite actor. Where Riyaz and Shabnoor acted as a pair.
