7 farmers were died due to thunder in Ullapara of Sirajganj. At least 8 others were injured. The incident took place at Matikora village of Panchkroshi union of the upazila around 4 pm on Thursday. The names of the victims were not immediately available.
Panchkroshi UP Chairman Touhidul Islam Feroz confirmed this information and said that in the afternoon the agricultural workers were planting saplings on the land. At that time, 5 agricultural workers were killed on the spot due to lightning. At least 10 others were injured. Two more died later. The injured were rescued and sent to Ullapara Upazila Health Complex.
Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Ullapara Model Police Station, said that he heard the incident. We are going to the scene.
