Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor, who is determined to bring the city to a specific schedule, does not see the logic of keeping the drug shops adjacent to the Tapas Hospital open 24 hours. Although some people criticized his decision and said that the government wants to fix the time when people will get sick.

Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Tapas also gave an explanation why he is saying this. He said, ‘We don’t see the rationale of keeping drug shops attached to hospitals open 24 hours. Because, where doctors are not available after certain hours from Sunday to Thursday, Friday-Saturday and at night, why should medicine shops be kept open? The doctor must first confirm. Only then should the medicine shop be kept open for medical services.’ However, he assured that if a hospital takes a written application and presents a logical reason, it will be considered.Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas spoke about this in the opening speech of the sixteenth meeting of the second council of the corporation at the Mayor Hanif Auditorium of Nagar Bhaban in Gulistan on Tuesday afternoon. This information was informed in a press release in the evening.

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) decided how long any type of establishment can be kept open for saving electricity and energy. They have prescribed different deadlines for different types of institutions. This deadline will be effective from September 1. According to the schedule, all shops, shopping malls, markets, markets, open markets, business or commercial establishments can be kept open till 8 pm. Kitchens of eateries or restaurants should be closed by 10 pm. And food delivery will continue till 11 pm.

Entertainment establishments or establishments including cinema halls will be closed by 11 pm. General drug stores will close by 12 midnight. And the own medicine shop attached to the hospital must be closed by two o’clock in the night.Addressing the meeting, Mayor Tapas claimed that their schedule of public notices has been widely appreciated. There are various talks about keeping only hospital-affiliated drug stores open. But the concerned parties, who are there, have not yet filed a written application in this regard.

The mayor said, if you want to conduct any institution, establishment and business activities outside the scheduled time, you have to apply in writing to the Dhaka South City Corporation. There they have to show proper arguments why their institution or activity is essential. After analyzing it, extended time will be given to the concerned institutions or activities considering the need.

Instructing the councilors to implement the announced schedule, Mayor Tapas said, ‘You must ensure this schedule. Ensure that everyone conducts the activities according to the schedule in the area, neighborhood and neighborhood. Failure to do so will take strict legal action.’

Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas, who has studied in the UK, claims that the subsidiary activities of the corporation and the proper management of the city are closely related to the schedule. He said, ‘A city cannot be managed only by infrastructure development. Along with that, all the related subjects are also connected.

Involves managing our various activities with precise schedules. When everything comes under a schedule, we can manage the activities more smoothly. Besides providing fruitful and effective services to Dhaka residents, I will be able to give a better Dhaka as a gift.’

City Corporation Secretary Akramuzzaman moderated the ceremony and the Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer Farid Ahmed gave a welcome speech. Apart from this, the councilors expressed their views on various issues.
