Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek said that drug stores will be open 24 hours. He said that no instructions have been given by the Ministry of Health to close the pharmacy after 12 o’clock at night.
The health minister said this at the secretariat on Thursday (August 25).He said, the drug store will not be closed, it will be open. If the City Corporation has done anything about it, it has not been done in consultation with the Ministry of Health. We are talking to them now.
In response to journalists’ questions, the health minister said that health care is an essential service. We have not reduced the timing of any hospital. We maintain 24 hours service. Only the office center or Civil Surgeon’s office, I did 8-3 there. Moreover, all hospitals will run at their own pace. The hours there will remain unchanged and we have not given any instructions to close the drug store.
Medicine is an urgent matter. Establishments that provide emergency services are not usually closed. Pharmacies are open 24 hours a day. We have not given any instructions in this regard. If the city corporation does something about it, we will discuss with them and find a solution. I think it should be open 24 hours. In response to another question from the journalists, he said that steps have been taken in this regard since whenever I heard. We think it will remain open inshallah. They may have said about the night. This matter needs to be discussed. They made a decision, which decision was not discussed with us. We will discuss and take necessary measures. We have already asked our officials to discuss and approve it.
In response to another question from the journalists, the minister said that the medicine shop was not closed. This is yesterday’s issue. A week has not passed. It was discussed in the cabinet yesterday. He may have said this yesterday. We came to know about this yesterday and have asked to take necessary action. Drug stores will not be closed, they will be open. Because it is a necessary thing. As the hospital will remain open, so will the medicine system.
He also said that medicines go directly to government hospitals. There is no opportunity to stay closed. The pharmacies may have said, in this regard, we will take measures to keep that open as well.
