A person named Nuruzzaman (38) jumped from the Padma Bridge by opening the door of the moving private car. This incident happened on Monday (August 15) afternoon. He was not found in the river until 12:30 pm.

It is known that he jumped into the river after not being able to lay flowers at the tomb of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara of Gopalganj on the National Day of Mourning.Nuruzzaman’s house is in Kanchpur area of ​​Sonargaon police station in Narayanganj. He worked as an ironman in a garment company in Demra area of ​​Dhaka.

Mawa Naval Police Outpost SI. Arif Hossain told the media that Nuruzzaman hired a private car to go to Tungipara on Sunday night. He went to Tungipara with a person named Omar Farooq early today. But they were turned away from there because they did not have permission cards to give flowers. After that, on the way back through Padma Bridge, he opened the door of the moving car and jumped.

He also said that he had taken a video on his mobile phone before jumping. There he was saying, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman belongs to everyone. Why can’t we give flowers?Omar Farooq, who was next to Nuruzzaman in the car, said that he left for Gopalganj from Kanchpur area of ​​Narayanganj at 7 in the morning and reached Tungipara at 10:30 in the morning. After staying there for 2 hours, I tried to give flowers. But we couldn’t send flowers as we didn’t have any card. After that, I left for home.

He said that the car was running at low speed while staying on the bridge. Because the bridge authority had put dividers there. Then Nuruzzaman asked to stop the car but we did not listen to him. Then he opened the door without saying anything and jumped from the bridge. After that, when we called 999, the naval police came and talked to us.

Omar Farooq also said that while staying on the bridge before jumping, Nuruzzaman was talking on his mobile video. He loved Sheikh Mujib, could not give flowers so he was suffering – he was saying these things.

He said, I have almost four years of relationship with Nuruzzaman. He is not associated with any political party. But he loved Sheikh Mujibur Rahman very much. He lived in a rented house with his two daughters and wife in Kanchpur area.

Omar Farooq said, they hired the private car for 13 thousand taka. Then, on the way to Tungipara, he bought a bouquet of flowers from Shahbagh in Dhaka.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Mawa Naval Police outpost told Dhaka Post around 12:30 pm that a man jumped from the Padma Bridge. We haven’t found him yet.

When asked whether he jumped from the bridge because he could not offer flowers at Bangabandhu’s tomb, he said, “I don’t have any such intimate information.”
