Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presented the ‘Bangmata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib Padak-2022’ to five distinguished women for their outstanding contributions in various fields.

This medal was given on the occasion of the 92nd birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, consort of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and a noble woman. The Prime Minister attended the function as the chief guest through video conference from his official residence Ganabhaban. The Ministry of Women and Cultural Affairs organized this event today (Sunday) at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.Bangmata Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib Padak is the highest state award for women. The five women who received the medal this year are – Syeda Zebunnesa Haque (Sylhet) in politics, Member of Parliament Selima Ahmed (Comilla) in economics, Nasreen Ahmed, former pro-vice chancellor of Dhaka University, in education, Mocha in social service. Achiya Alam (Kishorganj), a brave freedom fighter of Gopalganj district in the freedom and liberation war. Each was presented with an 18 carat 40 gram gold medal, a check of Rs 4 lakh and a certificate of appreciation.

Minister of State for Women and Child Affairs Fazilatun Nessa Indira presented the medal on behalf of the Prime Minister.
