After losing the T20 series, the Bangladesh team went to Zimbabwe and lost the ODI series. After losing the first match of the fifty-over series by 5 wickets, the Tigers lost the second match by the same margin on Sunday. Where Katharga has slow batting, flawless bowling and bad fielding. Coach Russell Domingo thinks that Zimbabwe has punished the Bangladesh team for these mistakes by losing the series.
After the end of the second match, the head coach of the Bangladesh team told the media in Harare, ‘In one match, 3 wickets for 60 runs and 4 wickets for 40 runs in another match, the boys could not create the pressure well. Gave too many loose balls. The fielding setup was wrong, some wrong options were chosen. Boys are trying but not learning very fast. They make the same mistakes again and again. That’s the frustrating thing.’Adds Domingo, ‘They are working hard but can’t learn from mistakes and keep making the same mistakes over and over again. Good teams and good players will punish you for that.’
Sikandar Raja has troubled the visitors in both ODIs. The right-hander left the field after winning the team with an unbeaten century. Domingo praised that king.
Domingo said, ‘The credit must go to Zimbabwe, especially to King Sikandar. He played great. How he scored back-to-back centuries under pressure. We were 20 runs short the other day, probably 20 runs short today too. We could have scored more runs. This run is difficult to defend here after noon. But full credit to Zimbabwe. They deserved the win.’
Bangladesh will play the last ODI of the series against Zimbabwe on Wednesday (August 10) to avoid confusion.
