Two trains on the same line collided in Rajshahi. One of the trains was stationary, the other was slow. As a result, the train was able to stop at a safe distance. Due to this, no accident occurred. The incident took place at Shitlai station of Paba upazila on the Rahanpur railway route of Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj at around 10:15 a.m. on Monday.Railway police said that a commuter train was going to Rahanpur from Ishwardi in the morning. The train on line 1 was standing at the station. Then Mahananda Express, a Khulna-bound mail train leaving Rahanpur on the same line, entered. As the speed was low, the train stopped at a safe distance. Later the train went out through line number 2.Asim Kumar Talukder, General Manager of Western Railway said, ‘Initially I heard that the pointman made a mistake. Even if one train is on the line, the pointman signals another train to enter. A traffic inspector has been assigned to investigate the incident. After receiving the investigation report, action will be taken against the people involved in the incident.
