Russia launched a deadly attack across Ukraine. Moscow attacked Kiev amid Ukraine’s desperate bid to retake the Kherson region. Five people were killed and 26 injured in a missile strike in the heart of the city of Kropyvnytskyi, the BBC reported, citing Ukrainian government officials. Besides, three people were killed in Bakhmu.15 people were seriously injured at an army base near Kiev. Russian troops have also attacked the northern and southern regions of Ukraine.
For the first time in weeks, Russia fired missiles into Ukraine’s capital region and northern Chernihiv region on Thursday.
A Ukrainian regional governor said Russia launched six missiles from the Black Sea and attacked the Kyiv region. 15 people were injured. Five of them were civilians. Ukraine says it shot down a missile. But Moscow’s forces struck a military compound in the village of Lutiz outside the capital, destroying one building and damaging two others.
Oleksiy Kuleba, the regional governor of Kiev, said Russia was retaliating against mass resistance with missiles, which Ukrainians were able to organize precisely because of their statehood. Ukraine has already broken Russia’s plans and will continue to defend itself.
Chernihiv regional governor Vacheslav Chaus said missiles were fired at the village of Honcharivska from Russia and neighboring Belarus. The Chernihiv region was targeted within weeks.Ukraine says it has launched an offensive to retake the Kherson region. They destroyed an important bridge over the Dnieper River on Wednesday. Russia took control of the site early in the war.
