Banks will be open next Friday (July 7) and Saturday (July 9) in the industrial areas to facilitate the payment of salaries, bonuses and other allowances to workers, employees and officials working in the garment industry before Eid-ul-Azha. Instructions in this regard have been given by the Department of Off-site Supervision of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday.
It said, “Before the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, the garment industry in Dhaka metropolis, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj. He also directed the garment industry branches of Scheduled Caste Bank in Chittagong to ensure adequate security and keep them open all day on July 8 and 9.
The clearing system of Bangladesh Bank will continue on those two days. However, in the interest of smooth operation of the clearing system, the directive states that checks cannot be issued at any bank branch located outside the said area.
The holy Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated across the country on July 10. On the occasion of Eid, July 9, 10 and 11 are public holidays.
