The World Bank president is also among the invitees
The government will invite hospitalized BNP chief Khaleda Zia, Noble Laureate Dr Mohammad Yunus and the World Bank president to the inaugural of the Padma Bridge on June 25.
The invitations will start going out from Thursday, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Sunday. The Road Transport and Bridges ministry’s foreign wings will communicate with the international guests, he added.
Quader made the announcement during a media call at the Mawa end of the Padma Bridge.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to inaugurate the Padma Bridge on June 25.
Two separate events – one on the Mawa end and one on the Zajira end of the bridge – had been planned to mark the inauguration of the bridge and the events would be telecast live in all 64 districts of the country.
