Eight people have been arrested in connection with the assassination of Nurul Haque Bhutto

RAB members have arrested six people in connection with the hacked murder of Nurul Haque Bhutto in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.

They were detained during a raid in Teknaf Upazila on Thursday afternoon.

The arrested are Saiful Islam (19), Mohammad Shaker (22), Ramzan Ali (26), Mohammad Ayub (22), Nur Kalam (20), Farid Alam (20), Syed Alam (35) and Ismail (28). They are all residents of Teknaf upazila.

The matter was confirmed by RAB 15 Assistant Superintendent of Police Billal Uddin.

He said that Nurul Haque Bhutto was killed by miscreants on May 16 in Moulvipara village of Teknaf due to a dispute over the UP election. The incident came to the notice of the RAB and it was possible to arrest the accused.

The detainees initially admitted that they were directly involved in the assassination of Nurul Haque Bhutto.

The arrested accused have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station, the RAB official said.

Note: On Sunday afternoon, May 17, on the way home after the arbitration meeting of the chairman of Sabrang UP, the self-confessed Yabadon Ekram Gang attacked Nurul Haque Bhutto. At that moment, Bhutto ran for his life and took refuge in a nearby mosque. But Ekram Gang did not give up. Bhutto was forcibly taken out of the mosque. He then left the road and cut off his right ankle in a hellish manner. Or about the wrist is cut off. He later died on the way to hospital.
