Bangladesh national cricket team cricketer Mosharraf Hossain Rubel has left for the land of no return. Rubel was taken to United Hospital in the capital on Tuesday afternoon as his condition deteriorated. The doctor on duty declared him dead at 5 pm.

The national team left-arm spinner has been suffering from a brain tumor for almost three years. Rubel was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March 2019. He underwent successful surgery on March 19, 2019 at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore under the supervision of neurosurgeon Elvin Hong.
Rubel was preparing to return to the field in 2020, healthy and normal. But fell ill again in November. After MRI in the last week of January 2021, it was seen that the old tumor started growing again.

Musharraf Rubel made his international debut in 2006. He took 1 wicket in three ODIs against South Africa on home soil. Then the team lost place. Rubel was called up to the national team again for the 2013 tour of Sri Lanka. However, he was dropped again without playing any match. Chandika Hathurusinghe took him to the team in the 2016 Afghanistan series. After 6 years, he took 3 wickets in the national team jersey. But Rubel was dropped from the national team again as he did not get a wicket in the next match. His career also stopped there.
