The United States has warned India against forging closer ties with Russia. This was stated by the top economic adviser to US President Joe Biden. This important ally of the United States has taken a neutral position on the Russian aggression in Ukraine. News from the BBC.

Brian Diz, director of the White House National Economic Council, told reporters on Wednesday that “our message to the Indian government is that moving toward open strategic engagement with Russia will have far-reaching and far-reaching consequences for them.”

In some cases, we are disappointed with the decision taken by both China and India in the wake of this aggression,” he said.

India has not agreed to impose sanctions on Russia. They have taken a different position than other countries.

Biden’s economic adviser spoke on the issue after US National Security Adviser Dalip Singh paid an official visit to India last week. After Duleep Singh’s return, White House spokeswoman Jane Sackie said, “What Duleep made clear during the visit meetings is that it is not in India’s interest to speed up or increase imports of energy and other products from Russia.”

India is trying to maintain a neutral position on the Ukraine issue. The country has been calling for an end to violence in Ukraine. However, India abstained from voting in the UN Security Council against Russia during the Cold War. Besides, India is also thinking of importing oil from Russia. Russia’s two state-owned companies recently ordered another 5 million barrels of oil. As an argument, Indian government officials are raising the issue of European countries buying gas from Russia.

However, the country’s Western allies, including the United States, are not happy with India’s position on the Ukraine issue. President Joe Biden also said that India was the only member of the Quad to take action against Russia over its aggression in Ukraine.
