RAB has arrested Alamgir Mia, accused of suffocating to death after raping a fifth-grade girl (13) in Chittagong’s Halishahar. He was arrested from Manikganj in a raid on Wednesday (March 18) morning.
ASP Imran Khan, assistant director of RAB’s legal and media wing, confirmed the arrest.
He said that after the rape and murder of a teenager in Halishahar, the RAB started a shadow investigation into the incident. Alamgir Mia was arrested in a raid this morning.
He said the girl’s body was recovered from a rented house near Alishah Mazar in Halishahar police station on Sunday night (March 13). The mother of the slain girl is a garment factory worker and the father is a rickshaw puller. Adolescent is the eldest of two brothers and one sister. One brother is mentally handicapped. A neighbor took the girl to his house on Sunday and raped her to death.
The victim’s father filed a case against Alamgir at the Halishahar police station on Monday (March 14) afternoon.
After the incident, the police said, the victim killed the student by suffocation and left the body under the bed and fled. Police believe that the girl was raped before the murder. Police have handed over the body of the slain girl to her family after autopsy.
